Gounod's Faust is a lush, romantic retelling of the old legend in which the aging scholar Faust sells his soul to Méphistophélès for youth and love, only to destroy the innocent Marguerite in the process. It's an opera of soaring lyricism, moral temptation, and the tragic collision between desire and consequence. Performed in French with supertitles and an 11 piece chamber ensemble
