Synopsis

Idomeneo, King of Crete, returns victorious from the battle of Troy. There is a terrible storm on the return voyage and his ship is almost lost. When he vows to sacrifice the next person he sees to Neptune, the god saves him. Alas, it is his own son, Idamante, he first encounters! Mozart's beautiful music paints an exquisite picture of a father torn between his love for his son and a sacred vow made to a god. This masterpiece features Stephen Rumph in the title role and will be performed with chamber ensemble and piano.
